As the previous posted said, Ohio doesn't require a permit to purchase or look. I would like to see the CHL double as a NICS check. That would be cool. Especially since some people can buy firearms but can't get the CHL due to the way the background check is done. In Ohio they will deny even if you have had your record sealed or expunged. You're good to go for the federal check though.

Sadly, in NC you have to have the darn permit to purchase a handgun. Just another good reason to get CC permit. Then you don't need anything but the money.

That is too bad, I was there over 20 years ago and they still need permits. Are they still 5 bucks? I always figured it was just another way of making tax money on the sale of guns.

Wisconsin doesn't require a purchase permit of any kind.
In MI, the pistol purchase permit is more of a receipt showing you are allowed by law to own a pistol. That is pretty much it. I have a CPL so I don't need a 3P. They record my CPL number and the same when I register it.
