    Dropped my HK this morning.

I was reaching for my HK USP this morning and bumped it off the safe shelf. I hit the leading edge base of the safe. Hit hard enough to release the mag, even though the gun was in its Serpa holster.
Luckily, no damage is evident. The mag seats and locks in place , no scars left on the polymer either. I hate to think what my SA Champ would have looked like after taking the same kind of ride.

I'd be more concerned with the safes finish. I'm glad the gun was OK, I think you lucked out.

My safe is worth far more than an HK, I'd rather duct tape the HK!

I've dropped one or two in my day.
Gosh the sound of nice gun smacking something hard and fast really hurts the ears.

Once I was taking a Colt 1911 apart in our new kitchen.
    Being real careful.
Had a towel down and newspapers to protect the new counter top.
The recoil spring plug started to roll and REAL QUICK I went to grab it and my shirt cuff caught the slide and sent it wailing off the counter onto the kitchen floor which we had just had ceramic tiled.
The slide cracked the tile and the tile dinged the slide and my Wife dinged me...but, it all worked out OK in the end.

Safe is o.k. too. Heck I care more for my HK than the safe.

The safe ain't what's gonna save your life.
Perhaps your sole purpose in life is to serve as a warning to others.

Glad the safe and HK are OK.

There is a thread running now about time slowing down in an emergency. A while back I wrote here about the cat knocking my G27 off of a cabinet while I was sitting nearby. I know the Glock is supposed to be safe if dropped, but my brain wasn't so quick to agree, and I remember how slow time seemed as I watched the gun falling. I easily had time to actually think about being the victim of a ACD (accidental cat discharge). The gun hit on the carpet so no damage or ACD other than the stress.

To quote every Drill Sergeant/DI/Squad Leader worth his salt:

    Get down with it!
A man fires a rifle for many years, and he goes to war. And afterward he turns the rifle in at the armory, and he believes he's finished with the rifle. But no matter what else he might do with his hands - love a woman, build a house, change his son's diaper - his hands remember the rifle.

I saw a guy drop a Walther P99 compact on a concrete floor. The rear sight came off and some little spring was gone forever. Glad the HK came out ok.
