I'm not a hunter, so I don't know the answer to this question. How much danger is there from bird shot at 75 yards?

My colleague James Oliphant reports that Huckabee’s party was about 75 yards away from the press corps Wednesday when a pheasant jumped up and flew toward the reporters, drawing several shots.
It is obvious that Huckabee was not one of the ones who fired the several shots. If he had been you can be sure the words "Huckabee's party" would have been changed to "Huckabee and his party" and the writer would have gone out of his way to make sure everybody knew Huckabee fired one of the shots.

Really!? Now that ladies and gentlemen is my former governor, and I'm proud of him. Read more about him here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mike_Huckabee
Does he stand a chance at becoming president? Maybe. Anything's possible. One thing's for sure. I'd hang out with my 'down-home', southern boy, ex-governor any day of the week, or on a hunting trip. Matter of fact, I'd vote for the man. I haven't seen anything better---you?

I think it has been well documented, in the material I've read anyway, that Huckabee has been a hunter much of his life and not one that has become a hunter once he wants to appeal to hunters. I doubt he took any of the shots over their head, if there even were any. Democrats, other Republicans in the running and media reporters are all taking jabs at him all the time and expect this was just too much of an opportunity to pass up.

Whoever fired the shot needs to go back to the rage for some practice and learn better accuracy. Reporters are a pretty big target and shouldn't be that hard to hit even at 75 yards.

Yeah, but birdshot is a little too light of a load. Probably some 00 would make more sense.

The bad thing would be cleaning them. You wouldn't be able to get the smell off your hunting knife.

Ain't they considered "predators" like coyotes and crows? You don't have to eat them. Is there a bag limit???

Oh, they're not edible. They are very little meat, mostly mud vein, like carp.

Perhaps anothter question must be asked.
What about the intelligence level of any reporter that would allow themselves to get anywhere near the firing zone of a group of politicians when the politicians are hunting with firearms?
Couple this clear lack of intelligence with an anti gun point of view and you have what was reported.
I would question the value of anything written by a person stupid enough to place themselves in such a position.
