I had a "recently perforated" student in a hunter ed. class back in 2001 whos "best friend" was dove hunting with 6s (bird shot size that's much more commonly used on pheasant-sized animals) and forgot about the "safe zone of fire" rule. Where "the recipient" had on clothes, his wife was able to get 9 of the pellets out with tweezers. Where he was not covered with clothing, it took a trip to doctor (3 days later; the day of our evening class) to get the others out (3 in face, 1 in neck). He said he stepped it off later. 91 yards.
Edited to add: I forgot to mention the pellet that blew smooth through the thin skin near the top of his ear.
