Weatherby Athena
I am considering a Weatherby Athena 20ga for an upland bird gun. I like the rubbed oil stock for keeping the stock in good condition. The Browning Citori seem almost impossibe to use in the field without showing daily wear and tear. Any opinions ?

Expensive solution to an everyday bird gun, but a solution, just the same. Fine shotgun, if a bit tougher to get parts for.

the athena is made by SKB for weatherby. it has similar internals to the SKBs, which is fine, with the addition of a trigger block device i do not like.
the gun is heavy for a 20. still, i like them. i had a 28 gauge orion at one time.

If its a working gun, its bound to get dings, scratches ,ect. I just figure it is part of hunting to occasionally add character to my guns. My dads old model 12 has almost all the bluing rubbed off from years of use.
