Here are the range reports. Open Sights, 100 yards, Federal Power Shock 170 grain. Who says a 30-30 isn't an accurate gun? This thing rocks! As you can see it took a while to find out how the trigger and gun shot. Once I got the feel for her, she shot very good. I could not have asked for a more consistent firing gun.

Been more Bambi's killed by the 30-30 than any other!
My favorite caliber of all time! I have both the Marlin 336W and a savage Bolt action .30-.30 340C. Congrats on the great gun and good shooting! (At least the last part)
The pics title has the info of the shoot.
It is a 20" 6 shot Marlin 30-30 336W (gold trigger) micor groove barrel.

Looks like a deer-killin' daddy to me.
Yea for .30-30.
You need to try some of the Hornady LEVERevolution and see how the Marlin can really perform. It really does make a difference. I have a Marlin 336W as well.
Great Day - New Gun - new pics added. I installed the scope mentioned in the thread but removed it later. I couldn't justify using such a nice rifle as a truck gun and I don't hunt so it really wasn't needed. I put my SKS in the truck and put the scope on my Saiga .308. I have really enjoyed shooting the 336. I need to get out and shoot it some more soon.

Nice rifle in an all time great cartridge configuration. Congrats.

Good tips on the LeverEvolution. I really wanted to get some, but for $15/box more than the Federal PowerShok 170gr, I could not justify the difference. I know that the Federal round is proven from experience, and I am sure the Hornady round steps up the Lever Guns.
From what I have read though, the real difference the Hornady gives is from a 24" barrel in 30-30. Me having a 20" seems to negate the Hornady ammo's benefits. The benefits to me do not seem like a $15 dollar advantage.
I will stick to the big bad 170 grain. As slow as it may be, and the rainbow trajectory doesn't deter me at all. And for $9.99 or less a box locally I will buy all they have of the Federal Round Nose Soft Point and shot till it hurts. :)
