    Straight from Springfield
    Bud,
Unfortunatly, that rumor is true. Production on the Garand has halted due to a lack of parts availability. Please let me know if you have any other questions. Thank you.

Wait...I don't get it. Isn't "production" making the parts? That doesn't make sense to me. What am I missing?

Or get a CMP Garand while they are still available. I think they were using existing parts left over for the U.S. military to build M1's.

OK, that makes sense, still using some of the old parts. I feel better now. I didn't realize they were doing this.

The current Springfield Armory Co.(Geneseo,IL) bought the name , not the arsenal building (Springfield ,CT). Not sure what machines they may have bought.

Thank you Dad! My father got one during the 1980's after shooting some DCM matches. He also brought home an O3A3 after WWII in new condition. I've got them both now to go with my M1A and my Bushmaster Varminiter. I used to have a Colt SP-1 but just plain got tired of the lousy accuracy. Sure the Bushmaster isn't quite a battle rifle with the flash hider and bayonet lug but it will shoot .285" groups with handloads.

I've been going to buy one since back when surplus ones were sold for chump change. Never had the money. Always needed some other firearm more. Once again, I'm a day late and a dollar short.

Got an order in with CMP for a service grade HRA Garand ... just waiting for it to get processed. BTW, there's some good prices there on Greek '06 ammo. Spam cans with 192 rounds in clips & bandoleers for $50 or 240 rounds in boxes for $55.
