I have a mil-spec RIA and need to change to a tactical hammer and new beavertail. How much should this cost (for someone else to do the work) and how long does the process usually take? Thanks!

Call Brownell's up and request a 1911 catalog from them.
Once you have the catalog you can decide on what exact hammer and beavertail you'll want installed on your firearm.
The hammers are such great quality these days you can buy an ultra high quality "tool steel" "hammer and sear combo" that you should be able to just drop right in because the hammer/sear engagment is already mated, pre-honed and polished. Just FYI...that you should be able to save a bit of $$$ on that by doing it yourself.
I did a beavertail on my RIA. Not a major job. You will need to do sone grinding or machine work to fit the beavertail. The radius needs to match the safety. Get a guide that fits the frame and grind to the guide. The trigger should be an easy swap.

Thanks guys! I'll get in touch with Brownell's.
