I think it's cool, and a good snake gun.

I'm not sold on it as a defensive weapon ... yet.

Way Way back when it was first barely out of the prototype stage I thought it was a totally dumb handgun.
Mostly due to the overall size and the fact that "shot" does not usually perform too very well out of any rifled barrel.

I have sort of shifted my opinion on it though and I could see it being useful as a camp gun.

Does anybody know if there are .410 Signal Flares available?

    Just curious.

    Before you post...

Typing "Taurus" and "Judge" in the forum search box yielded eight (8) previous threads on this topic.

I don't think so. I've googled that one to death a while back. I know that they used to be, but can't find them now. I want some for my survival rifle that'll get tossed in the airplane when I start flying again.

I think that it would be okay for exactly what it was designed for, a carjack gun, but that's about it. All the tests that I've read about don't make it sound very impressive. There are far too many other firearms that would be better for concealed carry IMHO.

    To literally shoot snakes with.

Snakes have incredibly fast reflexes and it's tough to shoot the buggers with a regular gun. The judge with .410 bird shot will make easy work of at least wounding the snake to the point that dispatching it becomes less dangerous.

I don't know about everybody else, but i see the gun as a devastating close quarters weapon. The guy shooting at the "waterbox of truth" had to have been at least 15-20 feet away when engaging his "targets". For me, that is maximum engagement distance for me with any kind of handgun unless the BG has a gun too. I look at the Taurus video, and use that as my guide. If the critics would like, they can stand in front of that thing and take one of those "ineffective for self defense" loads in the gut at similar ranges displayed in the Taurus video and tell me how easy it is to walk away.

What I see is a very versatile pistol that can handle several different loadings and handle different tasks.

If I were still into revolvers, I would buy one.......

here in south east tennesee, you can not find that gun. its seems to be on back order due to high demand. my local dealer got 6 in last week and all six were gone that day. this was after a 8 week wait to get them in. they said they would love to get ten a day in.

It has no penetration at hardly any distance. looks good on the target but no real damage past a couple of inches.
