Talking Range day with JD & Lima - Got to wring out the 686 today!

I'm LOVING this gun. I put 50 rounds of SWCHP .38 +P reloads through it, along with about 60 or 70 130gr WWB FMJ .38. It shot a touch low at 7-15 yards, but as soon as I backed out to 25+ it shot exactly to POA. JD had his Ruger, and at the end of the day we both backed out to about 35-40 yd and took some single action shots one handed in the classic pistoleers pose, and then another cylinder full, double action in weaver/isosceles. Who's the better shot? We won't go there, let's just say that next time we're going to have to use reactive targets - trying to spot .38" holes at 40 yards takes some squinting!

Oh, and Limatunes got to FINALLY break in her new M&P... but that's another story, and I'll let her tell it. I'll just include a picture of the happy shooter and the perfect black circle left on her cheek by a 9mm case.

All in all, a good day, especially given the news I got yesterday. Shooting things really is cathartic.

Well you got me on the revolver shooting, but that's OK, next time we'll just match you up with Lima and autos and watch you get your rear handed to you.

Oh Gosh, I can't believe you posted the picture of me..lol.

Not my most flattering moment... gun powder residue and all.

It was a lot of fun though my M&P was being a little problematic, and it did take a couple "clicks" before I remembered that it has a magazine disconnect...DOH!!

I still have to get used to this whole striker-fired stuff.

There were a couple of times it failed to go into battery, some failures to extract brass, some FTFs. But then it would go through two magazines just fine, then be finicky, then back to fine again.. all with the same ammo.

This was right out of the box. No cleaning, no lubing, nothing. We'll clean it and take it back out and see how she shoots.

When she did shoot she shot VERY well and was EXTREMELY comfortable.

I would have competed with you with the revolver!!

You just excluded me from the fun...

Not intentionally... our host was getting cold. I still had ammo left!

What kind of ammo were you using? That is weird. That gun should shoot fine right out of the box. I understand that some of the early revisions had some issues, but my revision N has never had a FTF or FTE with well over 1000 round through it. I have noticed that it doesn't particularly care for WWB. It Shoots OK, but throws the brass in all different directions. I have since switched to Blazer Brass with much better results.

I think the "uncleaned, unlubed" part might be the culprit.
