I've a colleague willing to part with both a Remmington 720 and a 721. Both are in pretty good shape, bluing a bit thin on the 721. Both are .270's and appear sound. He was thinking maybe $300 for he 720 and $250-300 for the 721. Reasonable?

on Gunbroker they are selling for $325 to $595 for different caliber 721's. The 720 search only came up as an old ,rare Navy rifle for $2,000.

A Remington Model 720 is a rare bird. Made just before WWII only a very few ever saw the light of day. It was a further update of the Model 30, a steamlined version of the Model 1917 Enfield (if one can imagine such a thing) that Remington made for the government in WWI. Carefully verify that it is in fact a Model 720. If it is and in reasonable shape it's worth several times his asking price.
Sounds like you may have stumbled upon a good find. Now the hard part, do you tell your buddy what he has, or tell him y'all take them at his asking price. Reckon it depends on how good a friend he is and how good of a friend you are.

My bad guys! Typed 720, should've been 700. I expect it will be in the range of the 721. Doesn't sound like I could go wrong if I picked up the both of them for $600.
If it was a real find, I'd have to let him know. Can't say we're close, but he's given me great deals on several items: Parker Hale .270, knight muzzleloader, Montgomery ward bolt action 20 gauge... What comes around goes around, karma, etc... all that stuff.
