I own an xd45 4" service. It's a fantastic gun. One FTE shooting single-offhand with cheap ammo. A thousand rounds without any malfunctions after that, including a couple hundred +P. It's my carry gun.

A lot of people swear by them, and I'm sure they are decent enough of a pistol.

They have to many things or "features" for a combat pistol IMO... but if it floats your boat, why not.

about 400 through mine. I had to failures to feed in first 50 jph's, but gun was brand new, under 150 rounds fired, dirty and I was paying so much attention to watching slide my hand placement was sloppy and I was sorta limp wristing. I went back, after cleaning and did 100 fine with jph. Cleaned again and another 150. She's singing now. Very little recoil (once I held the darn thing right ) Last 50 where powerball and they where alittle more kicky, but other 250 where golden saber's .230 gram. Carrys well in my smart carry and is easy to wear. I got the 4" service model, bi-toned. Looking forward to crimson laser grips becoming available this summer and will get night sights, too. Lights are $100 and gun smith is needed to change sights, front sight is a pain, i'm told. Holsters are limited (compared to glock, most are) but there are plenty of IWB, SOB, carry holsters, you just have to look. It fits my hand very very well and I love having 13 +1 of .45 acp. with a spare mag, 27 x .45 = lots of firepower for a handgun.

I have a 4" bi-tone service model. It has been flawless so far, thru just over 1000 rounds. Recoil is very manageable. I don't get to carry it much, because it's my wife's favorite. I leave it at home with her, and it does nightstand duty.

I have an XD 9 on the hip as we speak. I depend on it and enjoy shooting it at the range.

    Thumbs up xd 45

I have the xd 45 compact and love it. All my other handguns have became 'safequeens'. I like the compact version due to the fact you can carry the 10 round mag for cc or the 13 round mag for duty/range/nightstand.

I have an XD45 4" service and use it as my every day carry gun. It has been reliable with JHPs and FMJs at the range.

I have two XD's and my brother has 1

xd9sc: This is a very nice pistol. Never had any issues with it. I have only shot Speer gold dot's and FJM's. It is accurate and double taps are easy.

xd45c: I love this one. With the 10 round mag it fits my hand very well. Conceals nice. Accurate, even my g/f shoots better with it than the xd9sc. I have shot FMJ's with out issue, I have tried a few HP's both +p and std pressure and it eats everything.

My brother has the XD40 tac. It is about the same size as the 45c. He really likes his and has never had any issues with it. I am not a fan of the xd40, only because I don't like how the 40SW round recoils.

I have the XD40 Service and it is my EDC until I pick up the XD40SC which should be when the taxman cometh. It is a great gun, no failures whatsoever using all types of ammo.

I carried a 1911 in the Army (along with an M-16). I now carry an XD. Both the XD and 1911 have a grip safety. Contrary to some claims both are single action. One feature that the 1911 has that the XD does not have is a safety. One feature that the XD has that the 1911 does not have is the loaded chamber indicator. Without customizing it seems close to a draw on the number of features. However, I feel that I have overlooked something.

    Help! What am I missing?

Technically the striker status indicator is a feature, but the 1911 has a visible hammer - same difference.

The XD has a trigger safety.

XD has a rail but some 1911's do too.
