My Cricket rifle opinions...

I had a post on here a couple of weeks ago asking for info on the .22 Cricket rifle for children. We bought one and have took it to the range 3 times so far. First of all I want to say that the Cricket was not my first choice for my child's first rifle but the size of the stock needed so that she could comfortably shoot narrowed down the field quite a bit. As far as the Cricket goes we got a synthetic stock version with open sights for $100 at Walmart.
For a first rifle the Cricket is a really good size for small shooters with a weight of about 2 1/2lbs. As some people posted the sights really suck and I am looking for options to replace them. The action is pretty smooth and the rifle is as accurate as it needs to be to teach a beginner. I would definitely recommend this rifle to anyone needing a singleshot bolt action .22 for a young child.

I got the Henry version for my 6 year old son and the sights are made of fiber optics and seem to make it easier for him to understand and shoot well. He does better with it then the with our CZ 452 with iron sights.

I took my Ruger 10/22 and restocked it for my son. For less than $100 (not counting what I already had in it), he now has a good shooter he can handle.
