    Problems with Springfield ILS?

I've seen a number of posts, mainly on other discussion boards, but a few here as well, where folks have complained about the ILS on Springfield 1911s. For those who have a problem with it, please fill me in on why you think this is such a bad thing?

I've got a GI model, and I've never had an issue with the ILS. It works perfectly when I use it (which is almost never), and I just can't see how it could ever cause any problems when not in use.

    Enlighten me...

    Thanks!

Most people dont like the extra parts or different take down.. of all the lock systems i find this to be the least in the way but usually replace the MSH anyways

there is always a chance it could malfunction when you dont want it to

I have a Mil-Spec and it doesn't bother me, I never use and I never do more than a field strip for cleaning so it might as well not exist for me.

Far as I can tell they remove them because it bothers them that it was put on there and John Browning never designed it that way. I have never heard of a malfunction of one. I bet there has been maybe one... but it must be pretty rare. Mine is still intact and I don't plan on removing it.

Never use mine , never has failed. I do not turst the internal locks to work properly , so would rather just lock up the gun.

I purchased three of them and purposefully installed them on all of my 1911s including a then pre-ILS SA. I like it and it's never given me a problem in like 3 or 4 yrs. of continuous use. As well there is nothing to break/fail unlike other locking systems. It's simple as simple gets and the rotating lug that actually locks up the MSH spring is just a piece of metal not some complex assy. IMHO the device is genius.

I lock mine ONCE. Just to see if it works. They do, and dont give any trouble that I know of.
