Does anyone know where one can shoot without taking out a loan?
I'm up in Denton on a college budget (made a whopping 3 grand last year), and the cheapest I've come across so far is $260 a year (this figure includes range fees and gas) for a meager 1hr time slot per month at Denton County Sports Association, which I find to not even approach what a young shooter needs to establish and maintain proficiency. DFW Gun Range is gonna run me around $310, but I can stay as long as I can stand to shoot per session. This is all before ammo.
The private range in Denton has a waiting list over 1 year long.
On top of this, I'm becoming a TX resident and have to get a new permit and take the CHL class.
I'm not too keen on carrying without some regular practice as I've had my XD for less than a year and only put around 250 round through it.
Half measures availed us nothing...
Try Red River Firearms in Sherman:
Red River Firearms LLC
It'd be a drive, but they have better rates, and great folks!

"He went on two legs, wore clothes and was a human being, but nevertheless he was in reality a wolf of the Steppes. He had learned a good deal . . . and was a fairly clever fellow. What he had not learned, however, was this: to find contentment in himself and his own life. The cause of this apparently was that at the bottom of his heart he knew all the time (or thought he knew) that he was in reality not a man, but a wolf of the Steppes."
