My visit to the Scope gun show in Norfolk, VA (yes I made a purchase)

Well I showed up at 2 p.m. only after getting turned away at the Isle of Wight Civil War reenactment, which was canceled. Did a quick walkaround as I had decided to purchase a 45 Millennium.

Found 2 or 3 tables with the goods. Then I did something stupid. Dealer #1 has one for $319 with 2 mags. Dealer #2 (Dark Sun Surplus) had one at $329 with 1 magazine.

I went with Dark Sun and purchased an extra mag for $22. Why?

Because dealer #1 had his tag marked: "2 mags/6 rounds".

I politely inquired if they were really 6 round mags and he assured me they were, "Because that's a 45."

Uh-huh. I could have taken the deal but I just don't like dealing with people who have no idea what they are talking about. If you're gonna sell something, have a clue.

In other news, met some really nice people. One jewelry dealer noticed my son admiring a bunch of amethysts embedded in a rock. He GAVE my son a small polished amethyst.

Another jewelry dealer invested a fair bit of time entertaining my son's attention even knowing that $5 in his hand wasn't going to buy much.

Did I miss some ammo? Wanted some CorBon for my new 45 but all I could find was a bag of Gold Dot.

On a side note, anybody want to recommend some accessories? Favorite holster, aftermarket sights, etc.

Congrats on your new gun. I agree with spending a little more to buy from someone who has a clue. That is the main reson I get all my guns from gun shops.

B.T.W. Pics with range report please.

You'll hear a lot of people whine & complain about how bad a show is....I look at it as a social event.....You get to meet a group of people who are like-minded about firearms. Where else can you go where that happens? Most of the people are friendly & most aren't looking to screw you over the price.

(don't worry about the CorBons...Gold Dots are what I use & they are a LOT cheaper!)

Now a confession... I went and poked around www.taurususa.com and found a little mention on the PT145 page that some were made with 6 round mags for a slimmer grip. Huh? OK whatever maybe the dude had one of those. He stil thought the 145 only came as a six shooter and he can keep it. I like my 10 rounder just fine.
