Tell Me About Brazilian 1911 Colt Slides

Tell me what you know about them.

I know that some were made on Colt Factory equipment that was sent down to Brazil??? That is about all I really know.

Are they substandard in any way?

Is the steel that they are made from the same as Colt steel?

Is the machine work as good...even though the machine work is SOMETIMES not all that great on COLT slides either.

Do they "make up" into decent pistols?

Is it just the fact that they were Made In Brazil make them Not As Popular or worth as much as American Colt slides?

I believe that is the case. the Sistema's are very good pistols. They are not always finished as nicely as Colt's, but they are well built with good steel. Colt produced the first 10,000 1927's in Hartford Conn. (known as Hartford Colt's) and then sent engineers to Argentina to help F.M.A.P set up production.

If my Sistema is anything to by - then ''back then'' at least - the quality aspect seems up to par.

As for current offerings, not at all sure.

As for current offerings, not at all sure.

Current offerings, providing they're Imbel, are top rate. Most of the current Springfields have Imbel frames and slides, and if you hang around the seriously evil guys long enough, you know we all pretty much love Imbel. ;0

Robert, all Springer 1911s are IMBEL forged. Some are completely finished & assembled in Brazil, are marked "Made in Brazil" and carry the "IMBEL" marking under the right stock panel, those finished and assembled here, do not.

My Lightweight Springer Has the imbel marking on the Frame but non of the Rest of my springers do its under right grip panned and under the Front part of the frame in front of the trigger guard
