    I remember reading

    about a couple of gun writers that pushed 45acp velocity up to 44 Mag speeds using Mil Surplus Steel Cartridge Cases.
    I think they had problems with premature unlocking and some frame battering due to no "heavy enough" recoil springs being available at the time. Stuck cases were also a problem...but, remember that they were playing around with a standard .45 acp barrel & no real changes to the operating system of the standard box stock .45 pistol.
