This is a discussion on How do you store your pistols and mags? within the General Firearm Discussion forums, part of the Related Topics category; I'm looking for ideas on pistol storage such as a rack like this:
MidwayUSA - Versatile Gun Rack 6 Pistol Rack Vinyl Coated Steel Gray
...
I've got three pistols now with two (maybe three) more on the way. I need something that is also capable of holding smaller pistols though such as a PM9, Seecamp, etc..
Right now I have everything in a lockable cabinet but it is lacking organization and ease of quick access to whichever pistol I need to get to. Most gun safes seem to cater to rifles or only one or two pistols.
Anything else out there like the rack in the link?

The ones that are not loaded ready to use are in the original boxes. That keeps them protected a lot better, and also keeps the dust off of them.
Thanks for the reply,
I've got a bunch of bore-stores to help keep the dust off. I was thinking that keeping them in the bore-store while in the rack may be the way to go. The original boxes just take up too much room and depending on the day, where I'm going and what I'm wearing I may grab any one (or two) of them. I want something that will leave them all readily available.
How deep does the shelf need to be to hold a Sig 220 or a full size 1911 in the rack, front to back?
The rack itself is 6" deep, add about another 3" for a full size 1911...as you don't want the legs on the 'edge of the shelf...use a 10 inch deep shelf...OMO

Save a BUNCH of money and go to the housewares dept of any large store and buy a plastic coated pot lid holder or a dish holder. They work just great. I bought one in Walmart yesterday for $3.98. It will hold 8 pistols in 13 inches.

Thanks.
I suspected that.
The shelf above the long guns in my Stack-on is not that deep.
A Cannon Door Panel won't work, because of door mounted shelves.
