Got myself a Ruger Single Six Hunter :D
The lest expensive gun to shoot I had around was my carry 9mm, and I knew I had to get a .22LR some day... Got the ruger SS Hunter over both the smith revolver (617) and the countless semi autos out there for several reasons... the longer barrel, single action only feel and look, and the fact it's build for scope use... I read a few reports and it's said to be lazer accurate. Placed 50 rounds of sub sonic ammo and I never even needed hearing protection, makes a real nice fun gun to shoot, loads of ammo... need a scope now.
Sweeeeet, I will be getting ANOTHER single action type revolver, but in a big bore caliber like 45 Colt... the feel of these guns are nice, "steel that is true" comes to mind, I don't get the same feeling holding a 'fantastic plastic' gun that companies sell for plinking and target practice, not even close man.

Just do a poor man's trigger job on the single six, look up how to do it on Google. I love mine and it's very cheap and fun too shoot.

Excellent choice. The Single Six is one of my all-time favorite handguns. It was my first, and the one I learned to shoot with. Later I got a Blackhawk .357, and currently I have a Vaquero in .45. Just can't beat a single-action revolver!
Cheers,
Rod

No, and you probably never will. Until you shoot one with the Wolff spring kit, you don't know what you're missing. My friend and I have identical Single-Six revolvers with the exception of mine having the spring kit. When we compared them side by side, it was a very noticeable difference. Mine had a much better trigger pull and everything just seemed smoother yet both guns have about the same round count. Now he's getting one for his and his Vaquero. Here's a link:

BTW, that's a beautiful revolver!

I have an early '70s Single Action Six "Three Screw Model" (pre safety), still in mint condition. Also still have the original grease pencil serial numbered box, papers, sales tag from the drug store/variety store ($69.95
). It's a great shooter, both 22lr and 22 mag. Of all my guns, that's the one my 14 year old grandson still enjoys the most.
