Because you have the choice of 240 or 300 grain loads, subsonic or super, that can reach farther than a .45. It's easier to cart in and out than something like the .300 Whisper or the M24. Reportedly much more accurate than the .45, and obviously heavier payload than the M92. Plus, it gives a really bad headache to the target of your affections.

no way, the space between the cylinder and the barrel would allow gas to escape

It can be done with standard type revolvers as well, but only with a very tight barrel/cylinder gap, which makes them not very reliable.

YouTube - Silenced 1895 Nagant revolver (NFA)

Nagant does not count, cylinder moves foward and makes a gas tight seal useing the long brass of the cartage.

IIRC a few suppressed Nagants were used in Vietnam in certain circles of shadow people. The design of the gun just lent itself to being used with a can.

Now what is suppressed? For practicality it is merely effective in making the report a bit more muffled and hard to pinpoint exactly where the shot came from. Certainly using sub sonic ammo makes a huge difference as well.

But for purpose of the post. Yes revolvers can be suppressed.

    I'm not saying silent!

Oh yeah, and the Nagant 1895's can be had at GunBroker.com for $100 - $140

Nagant certainly does count! It's a revolver in every sense of the definition!
