So, I taught this kid to shoot.
About ten years ago. Neighbor kid. My son asked if we could take him to the range with us. Got his parents permission and off we went. He went with us a few more times then I kinda lost track of him.
Yesterday he stopped by and wanted to show me something. He bought himself an AK47.
He brought in to the garage, all the time displaying commendable handling skills: never saw his finger on the trigger, he kept the muzzle pointed in a safe direction at all times.
While I was admiring the piece, I said "Good thing you bought it now, if Obama gets elected you might not be able to get one".
The discussion got political from there, I think he's a Republican now.
I'm a child of the 60's, but I got over it.

Great story - thanks for sharing, and for teaching him right.

1. Follow through and make sure he is registered and plans on going to the polls. Half of all gun owners did not show up at the polls in the last presidential election. In my district alone, 134,000 gun owners did not vote. Like it or not, this year your worst political enemy can sometimes be found at the gun store.

Sisco...you done did 'good'!
...and I agree with the 'vote' encouragement!
"That I cannot do."
"Give this to, uh, Clemenza. I want reliable people, people who aren't going to be carried away. After all we're not murderers in spite of what this undertaker thinks."

Be sure and tell him also that he can write in his choice for president. Wouldn't that be something if a "write in" won??

Way to step in and teach a kid right! Looks like you did a good job. Let us all not forget to pray that Obama never gets elected.
The beauty of the Second Amendment is that it will not be needed until they try to take it.
