I have my Dad's Savage from that era, aren't they great. Looks very much like your rifle.

Wow great to see that old mossberg.

I had a pretty crappy day, opened the safe and grabbed my mossberg 42Mb and ran a box through it. Magazine fed with the "swiss army" front sight.

No problem with the 5" gong at 70 yards, and that got my mood improved a bit!

The 42Mb was my dads, and my great uncle's before that.

I learned to shoot on the exact same type and I was handed down that rifle a few years ago. I had it restored back to the way it was when I shot it and will hand it down to my kids next. There are a lot of memories that can be in something like that.

It looks just like the rifles we had on the JROTC rifle team, when I was in high school in the 1960's

    Restore

Are you going to restore it or clean it up? I have an old single shot bolt action I've been saving for my son, can't decide which option I want.

i bloke it totally down after i took the pictures and cleaned it. sadly, it has so much corrosion from 40 years of humidity that it will never truly look mint again. My friend is going to re-blue it for me and try to clean up some of the pitting on the bolt.

you should have seen what it looked like when my brother and i resurrected it from the basement 2 years ago...total rust.

it's come a long way... i am taking it to shoot tomorrow.
