No CWL in NY??

Hi All,
I just moved to NY State. I have a CWL from Florida where I lived for 17 years. NY doesn't recipicate...and so far I found that they don't even have their own CWL. What kind of crap is that?? Does anyone have any info on that?? I don't hunt...it's just for protection...I guess NY gets a "A" MM. I used to be the Florida state Coord for SAS, I don't know how they can have that here...no guns...

Stacey, plenty of counties in NY issue CCW permits. There are a few that don't, most notably NYC. I'm in Ulster county and it's basically a "shall issue" county. It takes a while, and there are a few hoops to jump through, but unless there's some reason not to, you'll get an unrestricted permit in this county. Others are not so good, but there is a broad spectrum.

Can you share what county you live in? That might make the advice a bit more accurate.

Fellow NY'er here, In my county (Warren) we have shall-issue with Judges decresion. In my county everyone gets "restricted" permits as the judge is a non-gun person . Now, every cop I have asked about it (even 2 troopers) said that they wouldn't hassle anyone about it cause of what you have to go through to get one in NY (cost me $160 + a 12 week wait)

I lived in Lewis Co. when I applied, and received my permit. I soon moved back to Onondaga Co. I wasn't sure if I could still Conceal carry there? Honestly, I did much of the time anyhow. I felt it was crazy to have a permit, and NOT carry in Syracuse (or Sorryexcuse ). I know that I could carry, and posses within my property, or at a range.

What in the world possessed you to move to N.Y.S. anyhow? It just seems backwards

Go to your county clerk's office and obtain the forms you'll need. You'll have to pay a fee or fees, get fingerprinted at the local cop shop, provide references and other information, and then wait several months. Unless you're in a hellhole of a county, you'll get your CCW permit.

I've held a permit in New York State for years.

Thank you to alll of you that replied! I'm in Oneida County. I read the Packing.org the other day. I'm going to look into it after I get everything together...I'll post my findings!!!

Realy!! Thats where I was born and raised!! Actualy on the Lewis/Onida couny line. Whereabouts in Onida Co.? Anywhere neer Boonville, or Forestport? You should find pleanty of good farm land in Onida, the casino isnt bad eather .

I maybe wrong, but Ive hear that its a pain to get a permit in Onida . It could also be BS.
