    1911 Commander question

Morning everyone. I'm having a little trouble with my wife's pistol and was hoping someone here could help. She has a Llama 1911, Commander size, in 9mm. It routinely fails to return to battery. I believe that the recoil spring needs to be replaced, but I'm unsure of the correct weight spring to use. Does anyone know?

    Thanks guys.

I interpret the Wolff web page to say that the Colt factory standard for the 9 mm Commander is 16 pounds. You might want to give them a call to confirm. It's tough to beat their springs. I put an extra power recoil spring in my .45 Combat Commander (24 #) and it runs like a top.

Since LLama gun springs are not noted for being the greatest I would start by buying a standard factory weight recoil spring rather than going heavier right away.
Because a fresh Wolff factory weight for a 9mm Commander is going to feel stiffer than a spent Llama recoil spring anyway.

I would also suggest that you change out the firing pin spring at the same time for safety reasons.
    It's probably due anyway.
You might as well pick up the Wolff Service pack for $17.99 and add a fresh hammer spring also.

Colt Commander Series, Super .38 and 9mm
    Stock No. 69091 - Type I - Super .38 & 9mm.....$ 17.99 ea

Type I - contains the following factory specification springs: recoil spring, firing pin spring (extra power), hammer spring, magazine catch spring, plunger tube spring, firing pin safety spring and sear spring.

+1 on installing the service pack spring kit. My Officer's Model was failing to return to battery and the spring kit has it running like new. I figured while I was in there I might as well replace them all.

My son made a shooting wonder out of his Llama by putting Wolfe springs in it. Worth a try.

Thanks guys, I appreciate the help. I'll be ordering some new springs for the wife's gun this week. I'll keep you guys posted.
