If you are looking at a used 1911 & there is just a single hair line crack in the frame rail right above the slide stop cut~out then buy that pistol if the price is right.
That is a crack that in no way affects the structural integrity of the frame or pistol & (in fact) some Colt & clone frames have that area milled out so that there is an open space between the front & rear rail section.

On the Colt's, they have had the 10MM cutout on all their receivers since 1988, with exception of the retro models and even the 1st gen WWIIs had it, until the purists complained loudly.![]()
