    Selling a gun

I'm looking to sell one of my XD's, but have no idea as to how to go about doing so. I'd like to just sell it outright to a dealer.

I live in Mesa, Arizona and was wondering if anyone had any experience with selling guns in the area and could offer some advice!

    Thanks in advance!

You will take a bgig loss selling to a dealer, you can advertise it and sell face to face to an individual, I would make sure he had picture Id and take his information to keep for your records,or you could find a FFL licensee to do the transaction so he has to pass the background check and the firearm would then be registered to him,the best way is go to a gunshow with a sign advertising what you have and price you'd like to get

Place an ad in your local newspaper. List it here in the buy/sell/trade forum. As previously stated, forget the dealer unless you want to trade for something and even then you'd take a loss. My first inkling to tell you since it's an XD was to tape a ten dollar bill to it and somebody is likely to take it off your hands. ( I just couldn't resist). Or---as previously suggested....just walk through your next gun show with it in the original box and you'll get plenty of questions and offers.

Sound advice from dukalmighty and Ram Rod.

Remember, a dealer isn't going to give you more for the gun than he could buy the same gun at wholesale. If he could buy it wholesale for, say, $300.00, why would he buy it from you for, say, $350.00?

    Doesn't make good business sense.

Thanks for all the advice guys. I'm not looking to make a profit off of it, but it's a gun that I don't use (and I've only put a few hundred rounds through it) and instead of just having it sit there, I could use a little extra cash at the moment. Nothing wrong with it, just don't ever shoot it!

I'll do some researching and see what the best option might be in the valley. Thanks again guys.

    762 - It's a 9mm compact, black finish. Factory everything.

I have a 9mm XD9SC, and I love it. Good luck finding a bi-tone, they sure are sexy!

+1 on placing an ad in your local newspaper. Definitely try that first. Around here we have one called the Buyer's Digest that is only classified ads and comes out once a week. I just placed a 1 week and sold a Llama mini 1911 22LR for what I wanted to get for it. No FFL fees. No shipping fees. It only cost $7 for the ad.
