this would cause the extractor spring to Jam causing the extractor
to be louse for a round or two untill the mess inside moved around a little
then it would go back to working again.
the trouble is the stuff may still in there
Thanks. I'll disassemble it again, clean it up, lube it and reassemble.

    Thank again!.

So, you are saying the Winchester FMJ's I've been using are just fine for continued target practice?

I just finished putting the old extractor back in and cleaning everything up. We'll see how it shoots next time we go to the range.

In the meantime, I'll research further to see what all parts I need to replace in order to use the new extractor with LCI on my older G19.

Thank you all again for your time and input.

    dkpeppard,

I buy the bulk packs of 100 rds in that load by the cases. Presently sitting on 28 cases of 1K rds in that loading, and it's all I've used for years now with no issues whatsoever through any of my guns including the glocks.

I'd not worry about that ammo, especially in the glocks. My one g17 trainer has eaten 6K of that load without cleaning without a hitch and I really didn't need to clean it when I did.

Obviously, this means Glocks just aren't reliable . . .

Let me know if you need any springs or parts that you can't find elsewhere. I may also be able to send you a Glock Armorer's CD copy from my own files. Just PM me.

Thanks. I also have a thread running on GlockTalk.com. I had recently replaced the recoil spring and installed a new extractor, one with a Loaded Chamber Indicator (LCI). On GlockTalk, they stated I was supposed to also change another part out if I was upgrading to a LCI extractor. It was a little confusing because they also referenced what type of ejection angle (90 degree ejection port) I had and such, which I don't know the answer to right now. Based on that info, it was possible I couldn't even upgrade to an LCI extractor.

I have put the old extractor back in and will test the gun next time we go to the firing range. Thank you for your offer on parts.

I sincerely appreciate everyone's feedback here. It has help me become even more familiar with my weapons.

Hey guy! An easy way to tell if it's your grip (with a GLOCK) is if the brass is coming straight back at you. If that's happening, it's your grip. It may also be your thumb on the side (slowing it down), but it can also be that the slide lock lever was removed and installed improperly (it goes in AFTER the loading block pin). That causes weak tension and the lever flops in recoil, slowing the side.

    Dan
Before I started replacing stuff, I'd hold it a bit tighter, remove and replace the loading block pin and slide lock, and consciously keep my thumbs off the gun. I'll bet you that solves the problem

From what I now understand, in order to properly upgrade my 2nd generation Glock G19 to have an LCI (Loaded Chamber Indicator) I need to also install a Spring Loaded Bearing, Glock part number 2714. MidwayUSA - Glock Spring Loaded Bearing 17, 19, 26, 34 with Loaded Chamber Indicator Black

I found this info from the Glock Talk website in this thread: Extractor question - Glock Talk

This is only the case if you don't have the 90 degree ejection port. It only works on older models with 15 degree ejection ports.

This helped me. I hope it helps others.

    Thanks for everyone's assistance.

    UPDATE:

After putting the original extractor back in the gun shoots fine. We hit the range this last weekend and popped off about 150 rounds in each of our Glocks. No problems.

    Thanks again for everyone's guidance.

A glock jam? You must be mistaken, for this just simply does not happen in real life!! Were you playing a video game? Did you forget to put on your prescription glasses? Were you drunk? Was it a Flock (fake glock)?!

Surely there is something you are mistaken about!!!

    Sorry.. I had to lol...

Actually, I think Glocks in general fail the limp wrist test miserably. But I still like them :D
