Heirloom Pocket Gun Lost

Several years ago my grandfather bought a North American Arms revolver in .22LR and carried it until his last year. I had and carried it for a good while and when my dad got his permit card I pulled it out of my pocket and gave it to him. My ledger dates that event as "080407."

Yesterday he came to me and sarcastically said that he did something that I'd be proud of. I asked him what he broke. He said that he has lost my grandpa's revolver. He knows that he had it on Wednesday and noted it not in his pocket on Thursday. He works on a truck and in a building for a very large company; of course they have a no guns policy which he violates. He let his immediate supervisor know about the lost gun and said that it could be in the truck or in many places in this open-to-the-public building. His supervisor doesn't care that he carries at work and basically told him 'that sucks.' He also told the head of security who doesn't care if he carries and was told the same and reminded that he should report it missing to police.

He went to the sheriff's office today to report it missing. He had to ask me for the serial. When I looked it up, I typed into my ledger "lost 080730."

I tell that story to vent a bit about losing an heirloom gun. I also want to remind everyone to be careful not to lose your guns from your pockets - especially if you have a very small piece. Additionally, record your serial numbers; it can be a very good thing.

What kind of holster was he carrying it in? I hope he did not just drop it in a pocket. That is a guarantee of falling out.

I too hope you locate the gun. Sounds like he didn't have it in a holster. I have all my firearms photographed, serial #'s recored and placed on a CD. I have a copy as well as my insurance agent.

I carry my NAA .22 magnum mini revolver in a pocket holster for that very reason. Sorry to hear about your heirloom pocket gun, hopefully it will turn up.

This guy loses his gun which was then used in a crime, the guy confesses and says he tossed said gun into the river.

Owner goes fishing and catches this giant carp...low and behold...when the fish was opened...
