Gun Solvent Stinks! What do you use?
I was cleaning my guns in the house tonight and I hate doing this because the solvent I use really stinks everything up. Even with fans going and a screen door open, the fumes are noxious.
Are there any good bore solvents/gun cleaning solutions out there that work well but do not stink so bad?
Thanks!

Sorry. Can't help you. I love the smell of Hoppes #9. It's kind of comforting.
Edit: Some people use WD40. If you can take the smell of that, it work pretty good.

You are probably using Hoppe's #9, quite a nice smell. Break free-CLP, doesn't have as strong of a smell, and works pretty good.

My Wife is super solvent sensitive.
I use Weaponshield now. No Smell at all.
Cleaning is a breeze after the first time you use it.

I tell my wife that she should take some hoppes and dab it behind her ears if she wants to get me really excited.....

I can't believe nobody mentioned MPro-7 yet. I use WS for quick cleaning and lubrication, but I like the odor-free MPro for a thorough cleaning. I can clean all day-even at the kitchen table-and not get a single death threat from the wife.

hoppes#9 stinks? sorry to hear that, it brings back fond memories every time I use it from decades gone by. Honestly no more "stink" then isopyropyl (rubbing) alcohol. Anything strong is going to have a smell to it.

I use Hoppes Elite thanks to JD and Lima. It works great and has no smell at all (well, compared to Hoppes #9!)

Bore Cleaner
I use a lot of this at the gunshop.Gunslick - Gun Care Made Easy - Cleaners-Degreasers
Works great and low odor. I use a little tiny bit of Gun Scrubber to clean the residue out and X1 grease for lube.https://host8.successfulhosting.com/...2&bestseller=Y
I clean and care for tons of range rentals.

I don't suppose anybody noticed that the OP did not specify the brand of solvent he's using?
Why are so many people assuming it's Hoppe's #9?
When you’re wounded and left on Afghanistan’s plains,
And the women come out to cut up what remains,
Just roll to your rifle and blow out your brains,
And go to your God like a soldier.

I use Hoppes and Breakfree CLP. Sorry you think your gun solvent stinks, but I love the smell of most of all the solvents. I think all the years of smelling JP-8 jet fuel has ruined me. I tried some Weaponshield as a free sample and it smelled like cinnamon and worked well...you should give it a try.
