    Sig P6 Questions

I have the chance to pick up a Sig P6 for $390.00. It comes with a parts kit and a holster I'll probably never use. Good price? Good gun? It's 9mm isn't it?

I like Sigs, but have never even held a P6. Anyone got one or some experience? I'd appreciate it.

I tried the search, but "P6" was too short, and Sig came back with way too many posts that had nothing to do with a P6.

    Thanks

I just picked up a P-6 for about $270, the place does online orders too, but I don't know how much your shipping and ffl fees would be.

I like it, nice shooting little pistol, easy on recoil. Some of them have feed issues with HP, and mag capacity isn't the greatest, but I still like mine.

390 seems a little high unless its in very good to perfect condition. They shoot well, but some have trouble feeding HP ammunition, but thats nothing a little time and jewelers rouge can't fix.

Parts are limited with no time frame when they will dry up. It's a discontinued gun, so whatever is out there is out there.

This is a single stack 9mm right? Anyone got a good link for info on this pistol?

Search "P6" before asking, it's a beaten horse over there. I know some guys have been Duracoating the P6s and reselling them for around $390, if that's what you're looking at, with the extra mag, it's fair.

Given the scarcity of mags and spare parts, I wouldn't pay $390. I had a pair, and sold them to buy a 239. I do my own work, so access to spares was a primary concern. If you don't plan on shooting 10K+ rounds, I wouldn't worry about it.

Then why have it? Isn't 10K the break in point?

Thanks for the link, and yes I'll search before asking.

One thing to keep in mind with the P6 is that some have the European style magazine release. If you buy one with the American style, make sure you get the right magazines for it. The American magazines work in the European style pistols OK but the European ones do not have a cut for the American style magazine catch.

think that is high - $295 here recently w/ 2 mags, in good shape - only holster wear - gave it some character more than anything
didn't grab one - now thinking that next time around .....

I bought one a couple of weeks back just to add a 9mm to my collection. I got it for just over $300 including tax, so I think $390 is a bit high, but extra mags are hard to get so maybe it's not a bad price since the last mag I saw on GB sold for around $50.

If you get it, you can still buy most parts, so probably best to get them now. Some parts are interchageable with other current production models, IIRC.

I'll post a link to a site that sells the "most common to break" parts sets if I can find it again.

True, but the major concern is that the ejector is a one-piece with the slide release and discontinued...and very hard to find. That was the only part that would cause a completely disabling failure(that isn't transferrable from another model.)
