    Unhappy Ruger LCP trigger problem

I just purchased a Ruger LCP, and I'm a relatively new gun owner. My other broom is a S&W Airweight 642, and I love it. After dry firing the LCP several times, I noticed immediately that the hammer hesitated to pull back completely. Then the hammer didn't pull all the way back at all.

Upon inspection, I noticed something in the trigger mechanism is pushing outwards against the right side of the LCP. It bows outward a bit when I pull the trigger. If I pinch, using two fingers, where it says "INC. PRESCOTT, AZ USA", to prevent the bulging, the hammer will pull back completely, and then drop.

Needless to say, I don't intend to first pinch the sides of the gun before I fire at the range (or at someone trying to kill me). My anticipation of obtaining an LCP has been crushed by a defective gun.

    Has anyone had this problem?

Welcome to the forum! You might try running a search on this subject (it has been discussed before) - this feature is in the toolbar at the top of the page in case you did not know. Good luck and I would definitely send that pistol back to Ruger and let them make it right for you, free of charge of course.

Dry firing the LCP is a bad idea. Get snap caps ASAP.

Yep, mine's doing the same thing. Called Ruger twice on consecutive days, was directed to an answering machine promising a return call. On neither day did I receive a call back. I have no confidence in the pistol as is. I do feel like Ruger will fix it, if they'd check their damn machine!!!

Sorry to hear about your problems...my wife and I both carry the LCP and shoot quite often -- haven't had a problem yet. I wonder if this was 100% caused by the dry fires?
It is utterly illogical to believe that passing laws to reduce gun violence will be successful when those who are commiting the gun violence do not obey the law.
