I asked the member a few questions, and went to my local hardware store yesterday with mod on the brain. Got a polishing wheel and compound to use with my Dremel. I've dubbed the mod the LMG mod for the member who originally posted it....luvmyglock. I've started the same process on my G27 barrel and must say....a nice, easy mod for the DIYer. I have all but about thirty minutes involved thus far.

I'd just plop the bucks for a replacement barrel that is Stainless. I know I'd mess it up and I'd rather have the stock barrel as is in case the time comes to try and sell it. YMMV

My only concern might be possible rust on a unfinished barrel. My guns get wet, sweated on , ect frequently.

The effect on the corrosion resistance would be my concern as well.

I posed the same question in the original thread I have linked to in the beginning of this thread. It makes sense.

No, the treatment that Glock puts on their pistols is in the actual metal. I have seen barrels polished in this exact matter after being stuck in a snow bank for a week. No rust. I don't abuse my guns, so that's good enough for me!
Now we've all been a bit more educated on the Glock Tenifer finish process. It goes deeper than the surface of the metal.

Looks like a good start. Keep at it. I'm working on a little project myself, and will post when appropriate.

Buff away, I can see no way one could damage a firearm with a buffing wheel (other than the area close to lock up.

    Nice post.
