    Need help with an anti

So my friend asked my what possible reason I could have for owning an AK-47. He says first of all, nothing is going to happen to me and Ill probably never have to defend myself and second of all, why would I need a "powerful assault rifle" for protecting myself, wouldn't a pistol be enough?

Haha humor me with some good responses

Expand upon this point with him. Tell him that "probably" isn't good enough for you when it comes to your life. You can use the usual arguments of (I have a fire extinguisher, but I probably won't have a fire. I wear my seatbelt, but I probably won't be injured in an accident.)

It's a starting place for him to start thinking about it. If he won't budge and won't think about it, there is probably nothing you can say that will change his mind. He might be one of those who won't change until something bad happens to him and then he sees the light. Hopefully not.

You can simply tell him he might be right in that you will probably never have to protect yourself. But then again, he might be wrong. It is your choice as to what type, or how many different guns you choose to have, just as it is his choice not to have any guns or only specific ones. To each his own, but then you can tell him that if it ever comes to it and he finds himself without adequate means of defense you would be more than willing to help him out by lending him one in a time of need.
Just remember that shot placement is much more important with what you carry than how big a bang you get with each trigger pull.

Does he have a 4X4 truck. Will he ever need a 4X4 truck?

How many songs does his i-pod / mp3 play have on it. Does he "need" all those songs. Will he ever listem to them all.

Why drink 20 year single malt scotch when you can drink cheap wiskey?

Why does he wear shoes made by 3rd world child labor when you can wear leather cowboy boots made in the USA?

Why does he spend so much time with internet porn when he has a girl friend (jk).

Someday, something, might happen. But the reason to buy an AK-47 is because you enjoy your hobby, and you can.

    Another Question

Why would you buy an AK47 when you could buy an AR15?

If you have a key to his house, sneak into his house with your AK. When he turns on the lights, jump out and ask, "Got AK?" You can also go with, "Say hello to my little friend!"

And I'm positive none of the victims of the WTC attacks thought planes would run into the towers, too.

Stuff happens. Sometimes, there's not a thing you can do about it. But if you DO have a chance of arming yourself with the means to do something about it, and you choose not to, well...

Come up with some good comparative examples for this guy whom I will call George:

George, what possible reason would you want to go fishing? Overall it will cost a lot more than just buying fish at the market.

George, did you ever go to a fireworks display last July 4? Was it because you like the noise? If you thought they were pretty, you might see something prettier at Hooters.

George, why do you collect those boring [coins, postage stamps, old cars, etc.]? They cost money and essentially provide worthless entertainment?

Geoge, why do you play golf when you know it costs money and you cannot make money at it? Worse yet, you buy the most expensive golf clubs and you are not a pro.

George, I don't play much golf, but --

Why do I like to shoot my AK-47 when there is nothing to shoot other than paper targets and I cannot make any money at it? Could it be it is fun to shoot an AK-47? As to cost, my AK costs less than most high powered rifles. In fact it costs less than George's golf clubs, George's fancy fishing outfit, and George's fancy clothes.

If this was my friend, a simple "Shut up, ya moron" pretty much will do. :)

Tell him it is a financial investment.
