No Loaded Weapons at Gun Show?

Ok, so it's been over 15~20 YEARS since I've been to a gun show and that was in Kalifornia. I'm now living in the free state of Arizona and was thinking about going to gun show.

Imagine my surprise when I saw this on the GS web site:

ALL TRANSACTIONS MUST BE IN COMPLIANCE
WITH APPLICABLE FEDERAL, STATE, AND LOCAL LAWS.
NO LOADED GUNS AT THE SHOW AT ANY TIME
    Is this normal?

Yes it is pretty normal. Every show that I have been to in the last 5 plus years has been posted with an officer checking you out in front. Any weapons at the shows have to be safety tied at any of the ones I have been to..

It is normal. They frequently quote insurance regulations as why.

That's pretty much normal here also. Usually states "no loaded firearms allowed". I have yet to see one that states: no concealed weapons allowed. Be that as it may.

It is illegal for me to carry at the local gunshows. But it is also quite common. You have to understand their point of view. They are getting hundreds if not thousands of people in there. All those people need to be able to go in is pay the entry fee, and voila they are in, this includes mall ninja and idiots. All one would need is one of those idiots to accidently cause a bit of "trouble" and the impending lawsuits and news coverage would more than likely shut down at least that show, if not them all.

Does it suck at times? Yeah, but the lowest common demominator rules all in public areas like that.

Imagine what a ND would do at a gun show. Strangers are handling guns for purchase, hundreds of people are nearby. I don't have a problem with that policy.

Our gun shows are at "publicly owned areas of recreation." It's illegal by statute.
The preceding post may contain sarcasm; it's just better that way. However, it is still intended with construction and with the Love of my L-rd Y'shua.

The last gun show I was at, I remember getting some literature at a white supremacy group table (me being Asian), I was quite impressed at how polite they were. I remember thinking Heinlein was right. lol

It's why I do not attend gun shows.

It is kind of shocked me too the first time I went to one licensed(never thought about it before that). But unless you work at a gun show, it's a small price to pay for all those pretty toys in one room. Imagine if every idiot in town had supposedly unloaded their firearm without having an officer check it. There would be more than one ND at every show. Not fair for the responsible ones, but probably a good idea(lots of idiots).

That's why i open carry my G23 with out the mag, let them zip tie it, if somthing where to go down there is a full mag in my back pocket and a sharp knife in my front, put the three together. there is no sign that says i cant have ammo in my pocket
these days i avoid gunshows all together, unless i need something i cant find in town. seem to be over priced, over run with ninja and airsoft crap.

They unload my gun and zip tie it but my extra mags are in my pocket, all i gotta do is cut the tie seat a magazine and rack the slide i'm in business, they have had ND's at gun shows in the past,I had a friend was looking at guns and noticed a pump shotgun on a table but something caught his eye so he asked the vendor if he could pick it up and the guy said sure.My buddy picked up the shotgun and while the vendor watched proceeded to shuck out 4 rounds of 12 gauge on the floor, the vendor couldn't believe it,he had just bought the gun from an individual and never even checked it.My buddy said he saw what looked like brass in the mag tube instead of a red or black plastic follower

I agree with the ban on loaded firearms. There are too many idiots at gun shows wanting to show off their lack of knowledge about guns by waving thier loaded guns around. I have never heard of anyone actually having to use a gun at a show but there have been plenty of ND's. Just a few years ago a 12 year old boy was killed at a gun show by a dealer showing off his gun.
