I have no idea about any lawsuit, I think that Ruger would have been smart enough to cover their tails legally if there were any issues there.

Like 40S&WMAN said, they are simply having problems meeting the demand. They chose a very good time to put the LCP on the market as now more than ever there are lots of people looking for a small, easily concealable carry weapon. Add the people who don't want to bother to carry anything bigger with the people who are interested in it as a BUG to the people like just having every option covered and thats a lot of buyers.
When they get production caught up and the LCP is readily available then I believe they are going to put a serious dent in Keltec's sells.

I'll more than likely pick one up in a year or two just to give my wife another carry option to look at.

As far as pistols go, there is really nothing innovative about the KT or the LCP except they are small and light. KelTecs failure to patent will be their demise.

If you think the LCP .380 is popular wait until the 9mm (I hope) comes out.

I don't trust either one 100%, even though I carry a KT for its size. I can't wait until the Kahr P380 hits the streets.

I've not heard anything about KT suing Ruger, but I did hear that Ruger hired a bunch of people to keep up with LCP production. That should tell you something. Also, how can KT sue when they don't have a patent?

I hope kel-tec made a ton of money the past few years.

The entire gun industry info machine presents the LCP as something ground breaking new.

Ruger has all the "gun writers" owned.

You might think so, but gun companies are not always the brightest when it comes to legal issues. Kahr managed to successfully sue Colt over patent infringement. I seem to recall Glock winning a suit against S&W for design infringement of some sort.

Every other day, there's another post on some board or another stating that Ruger has halted production of the LCP for one reason or another. So far, I don't recall ANY being true.

I can think of one notable exception: our own George Hill.

....who called it "Ruger's Little Copied Pistol".

As far as I know, LCP's are in full swing. I got mine back when they first came out, but the line for them at the Gander Mtn near me is in the dozen range.

They will both be forgotten when the Kahr P380 comes out! OK, maybe not due to the price difference. If Seecamp/Rohrbaugh ever ramped up production and reduced prices to get off their elite high horse, ALL the small pistol makers would be shaking in their boots.

Smith was sued by Glock but glock had patent law on their side if KelTec did not file the right patents they will have a hard time.
I also found it funny that all the writers are praising it yet the same gun has been out there with a different name for years...

Ruger, KelTec, Kahr, Seecamp, Rohrbaugh, NAA, what does it matter? These companies can sell every pocket pistol they make. Nobody is going to cut into anybody else's market share.

KelTec shouldn't sue Ruger, they should thank them!
