Waiting period in FL?

Anyone know if there is a waiting period in FL on long guns? I have always thought it only applies to handguns. I know If you have your CW it doesn't apply. Reason I ask is I bought a AR-15 online and had it shipped to a local Pawn/gun shop and the lady said I had to have my CW permit to take it home today. I do and gave it to her but as a matter of principle I asked since when do you need one for a long gun? Her reply was since 1998. Didn't want to argue but would like to know for sure. She also asked what is so different about this gun from the next(I bought a Colt 6920LE model)? Then she asked if I was LEO and I said no. She then looked at me like a criminal who could not own such a mean LEO/Military ONLY assault riffle! Luckily there was a guy behind the counter that explained to her it was ok since the ban ended in 2004(which BTW I had just explained to her 30 seconds prior!)otherwise I might not have left with my paid in full riffle!!

I have never had to wait to take home a long gun. Rifles, shotguns and the EBR came home with me the day I bought them...

And now pistols do too... :)

Waiting periods are one thing local jurisdictions can control. IIRC, there are a couple localities that do have waiting periods for scary assault weapons.

Well, kind of...... According to our buddy Jon Gutmacher, the FL constitution allows each county to require up to a 5 day waiting period, but only if the sale takes place on property to which the public has the right of access. It would apply on public streets, parks, convention centers (say if a gun show were held there)......but not to private homes, stores, businesses, etc.... because the public doesn't have the right to access if the owner does not want to grant them access. It also does not apply to ccw holders regardless of the location.

Here in Pinellas County they will make you wait 3 days no matter what unless you have a permit.

Thats so odd, Pinellas is normally so conservative! NOT. I believe I would just come over to my side of the Bay.

They may be doing that just for liability sake. Gun shops are sued all the time over not being able to read the customers' mind....

No wait here in Citrus Cty. I purchased a rifle a while back at Walmart and the clerk had to carry it right to my car door. My first experience buying a gun from Walmart. It also required 2 employees and almost an hour to complete the transaction.

I had the same experience at WW in the panhandle. The only wait was the store like you said.
