Cleaning out a spare room with a friend and came across an old barreled action. His father was a gunsmith but he's not really into it. After his Dad passed away he and his siblings divied up the stuff. He ended up with a bunch of odds and ends. I took a look at it and it had some nazi proof marks and told him I could take it to a dealer and see if it's worth anything. Long story short it's not and he let me have it.
I found out it's a Mannlicher Gew98/40 made in 1943 under Nazi control. It's a cock on close action, mid bolt and is a real strong action. The metal cleaned up real well and it's chambered in 8x57. I'd like to put it to work but it's missing the extractor, ejector and bolt stop and needs a new safety latch. Anyone know where to go to get this stuff? No luck with Brownells or Midway.
