Thinking about going to a auction

There is a aucton this saturday about a hour from my house. They have over 70 guns listed.
    GUNS
Has anybody gotten a good deal at one of these? I cross checked the list with Gunbroker, I figure I will bid up to half the price Gunbroker has.
If anybody has a chance to look at the list, and pick out a couple to bid on, that would be great. I would like to add a couple Colt revolvers to my collection.

One problem I've noticed at auctions is guns sell for almost new prices, like a feeding frenzy for sharks,if you know what they have for sale research prices on the guns and decide what your max bid will be then bid til you reach it ,at that point drop out or in the heat of the moment you may pay more than it's worth

I have a friend who went to auctions and to estate sales.
Auctions did not prove to be successful much, but in estate sales he made a killing. He bought knives, fishing lures, and gun. He knew their worth inside and out...he made a lot of money.
I wouldn't waste my time at an auction...people bid more that items are worth all the time...it can be a feeding frenzy.

You didn't miss much by not being allowed to bid. Sure looks like you didn't luck out on any super deals.

The last gun auction that I attended, the bidding seemed to start where I wanted it to end. I didn't hang around long!

i work with some friends who own an estate sale/auction business.
the auctions, like said earlier, tend to bring in the people that get caught up and spend to much on guns, and estate sales you can find excellent deals. i got an SKS with the cosmoline for $30, my 1911 for $400, and had the chance to buy pretty much anything had i had the money.

my advice to anyone would be build a relationship with the people who run these auctions and sales, if they know you are serious and what you look for they will call you and most times give you the bottom dollar price.
