I recently lost my Dad to lung cancer and have been spending more time with my mom. I have two other brothers but I am the only one local. So anyway, I took my mom out to do some errands yesterday and she asked what my plans were for today. I said that I wanted to go to the range, if time allowed, and kinda jokingly, asked her if she wanted to come. She thought for a split second and said " sure but I cant shoot anything big". You could have knocked me over with a feather!!! She has been against guns for years since she was held up at gunpoint in the early 80's. Unfortunately time didnt allow it today but I will keep you all posted. I think my 63 YO Mom is a convert!!!
Being a good son and spending time with her, and taking her to the range.
She's going to need you around.

i would go to the range with my mom, but she would prolly out shoot me...
That's cool. A few months ago one of my dad's friends who is a shooting instructor took my dad, my mom, my brother, and myself to a range and let us shoot some of his pistols. My mom loved going but mostly shot the .22's. She really liked shooting them.
Cool story. Sorry to hear about your Dad. Your Mom is lucky to have you local. Take care and shoot safe.

Very sorry to hear about your dad. That is a hard way to see someone go.
Now, QUICK! Get her to the gun range and hurry before she changes her mind!
I thought it would be kind of a cool date to show a lady how to reload, let her load a few rounds and then take her to shoot them.
That's awesome man! Good for you, and great for her. When I was growing up in Alaska, and my dad taught my brother and I how to shoot, it was a family affair. Mom, Dad, my brother and I would all go to the range for hours, shooting Dad's .270 (now mine), Dad's 306 (now my brothers), our 2 .22 rifles (now mine and my brothers), his .38 special, and his .44. We went often, and I have great memories of it. My parents are now moving here to South Carolina, and now I get to return the favor as my Dad has never shot a semi-auto pistol...going to the range real soon!
Anyway, again, good for you both!

I'm glad to hear your Mother is finally coming around. Let us know about her experience!

Pistol Packing Mama!!! Good for you and better for her. Sorry for your loss of your dad. Maybe mom realizes that being alone at night having a gun in the house is not a worse thing in the world.
