Owning a AR15 in Indiana any special laws I need to know

Ok I'm new to the site. I'm planning on buying a AR15 for shooting at the range and home defense. I want to mod it up etc. but I was wondering with the ban law NOT in affect right now is there any special permits or license I would need to own one. Also whats my rights on carrying it to the range and carrying it in my truck here and there. I dont want to get caught up from not knowing. If you know what I mean.

Any info appreciated and Thanks in advance!!

    I'd suggest checking Handgunlaw.us

You can find all the statutes in your state here. (Actually links you to your state websites.)
You will have to do some reading, but that is ALWAYS good to do.
Click the link on the left, "all state laws".

    Enjoy

As far as I know, no special laws or anything in regards. It's just considered a long gun so you've got to pass your background check and don't be an idiot. Taking it back and forth to the range is fine just use common sense when transporting it(not loaded, etc.). I'm unsure on carrying it daily in your vehicle as I've not been concerned with that law since I don't do that with mine and I have my permit for my pistols.

I dont plan on carrying it in my truck as I have my pistols for that. I also have a lifetime permit for concealled carry for personal use. I was looking into the federal gun permit for Indiana but the people at the city county building said they did away with that June last year. So Im assuming (looking into it) that you dont need one anymore with the ban gone.

Thanks for the link. Checking it out now!!

I grew up in Michigan (several years ago,) where the law on carrying long guns in a vehicle was to have them cased and/or locked in trunk. In any case out of reach of passengers.

Then I moved to Virginia and discovered that if I transported "Michigan Style" I was transporting a "concealed weapon." (For Pete's sake!)

I since moved to Colorado. Withing two weeks of settling in here, I called the local Sheriff to ask what the laws are on transporting long guns in this state. His answer: "Any way you want, as long as you're safe."

I have since become very familiar with Handgunlaw.us.
