Need Friendly Gun Store in San Diego area

Can anyone recommend a friendly and helpful gun shop in the San Diego area? My mother is interested in purchasing her first handgun and I don't want some place that'll talk her into stuff she doesn't need.

Would also like to find an NRA pistol course for her in the area.

    Thanks

I shopped regularly at a shop on Moreno Blvd. They were knowledgeable and helpful. They also had an indoor range and rented many types of common hanguns. I left San Diego in 99 but they should still be there. I wish I could remember the name and cross street. They were right down the road (100yds?) from a VW dealer, and just across I5 from mission bay park where the big hotel is. About 1/2 a mile South of the Clairmont exit.

I'd take mom down to use the range before buying. This way mom can test drive a few berfore you purchase.

ETA on a whim I looked in my files for an old receipt and here is the name.

I try to stay away from American Shooting Center in Kearney. I did have a very good experience at California Police Equipment in El Cajon. They even helped me use a little loophole to get 12 round magazines. They couldn't sell them to me in store, so I paid for them, they shipped them to my parents in WA, and then I imported them by hand. They also have some good prices.

Thanks! I'd love to take mom to the range but I live on the other side of the country. That's why I'm looking for one that will treat her nice.

Iron Sights! Oceansides' Public Indoor Shooting Range

I suggest you consider this Oceanside-based range, store, training. Excellent, well-run place. Good gunsmithing, too.

Iron Sights is excellent. I bought my Sig 226 there. Best price & service.

As stated, avoid American Shooting Ctr.
