S & W 22A Suggested Starting Ammo?
Reciently purchased a 22A for practice. After reading a lot on
the 'net, I see some of the 22A's are a bit ammo specific. Is there a
particular brand/type of ammo that seems to cause the least amount of jams and fail to fire situations?
I also have a SW9VE which I like quiet well for a PDW but my primary
interest is in the 22A due to costs and noise. At some point I want me
and my wife to get our CC permits since she works late hours.
The 22A will obviously not be for a PDW. But neither of us have done
any shooting in 20 years so we need to practice and work out way up to a comfortable level.
Thanks for any and all input. Have a pleasant weekend.

Mine likes CCI mini-mags and stingers just fine. I've only had a couple malfunctions and they were on winchester bulk ammo, but even then it was after a couple hundred rounds so things were getting dirty.

Federal bulk box fire flawless in mine even after several hundred rounds without cleaning it

Check the owners manual to see if they have any recommendations in regards to velocity. Some brands of firearms specify velocity. good luck, john

Get a couple of 50 round boxes and try out a bunch. It's good practice and you won't have to commit to a bulk pack. The one we have at the range as a rental shoots everything well and except for the occasional broken firing pin has held up to extremely high round counts. Also works filthy dirty and gummed up, too.

Mine didn't like Federal's American Eagle. Runs fine on Remington bulk.
The situation will NEVER BE THE WAY YOU WANT, it WILL BE THE WAY IT IS. You must be FLEXIBLE ENOUGH TO ADAPT and just "DEAL WITH IT".

Most 22's seem to like CCI Mini Mags, but you will need to try them out in your gun, each one can be different as to what shoots reliably.

Thanks for the replies
It seems the general consinsis either Remington Thunder Bolt and the CCI MiniMags. My local dealer does not CCI and I do not shop WalMart.
I was given a 50 box of the Thunder Bolt virety - I'll see what happens and in the mean time order some of the CCI.
I have had seen some questions on using High Volocity ammo in the 22A. Some pro and cons.
Again, Thanks and have a good week.
