    The Remington 870 is in there. This is just about the most ridiculous thing I have ever seen in my life.

    And yes, the Mossburg 500 Turkey gun is an 'assault weapon' /sarcasm

    I noticed there are lever actions in there as well. I think the new one eliminates just about every single long gun on the market. Banning the Remington 870 has got to be the dumbest thing I've ever heard of. It is far from even looking like an "assault weapon."

    (a) RESTRICTION- Section 922 of title 18, United States Code, is amended by adding after subsection (u) the following:

    `(v)(1) It shall be unlawful for a person to manufacture, transfer, or possess a semiautomatic assault weapon.

    `(2) Paragraph (1) shall not apply to the possession or transfer of any semiautomatic assault weapon otherwise lawfully possessed under Federal law on the date of the enactment of this subsection.

    `(3) Paragraph (1) shall not apply to--

    `(A) any of the firearms, or replicas or duplicates of the firearms, specified in appendix A to this section, as such firearms were manufactured on October 1, 1993;
    Appendix A is showing guns that will be exempt. Rem 870, Ruger 10/22, Mossberg 500, etc. fall under that appendix.

    - Those are the weapons the proposed act does NOT apply to, if you'll read the thing.
    - Bill has languished in committee since introduced, doesn't seem to be any impetus behind it.
    - Also, the 5 sponsers are all REPUBLICANS. Surprise, surprise, all you with DEM fear.

    Those are probably ALL the anti-gun Republicans in the entire House. I'd list all the anti-gun democrats, but space prohibits me from listing 300 names.
