Question Keep Your Finger Out Of The Trigger Guard BUT - What If?

But, what if your 1911 does not have a trigger guard?
Years ago I actually was going to do that modification.
It make it easier for large hands and long fingers to gain access to the trigger without bumping the guard.
    The trigger guard removal.
It's actually not unsafe as long as you have a good functioning grip safety which physically prevents the trigger from moving to the rear.
Regardless...neat photo of this old "Bright Nickel" historic Colt so I thought I would share it. And NICE antique Ivory grips.
The photo is not too crisp or clear though.

Nice looking pistol, is it yours? I remember my Great Grandfather had one similar from WWI, I wish I knew what ever happened to it. His wasnt bright though, I think his was blued (and rusty). Somebody in my family got it when I wasnt looking.

Not as dangerous as the Fitz special...a double action snubby with the trigger guard removed! No safeties whatsoever.

My grandpa removed the trigger guards on all his hunting shotguns for gloved use in the cold Nebraska winters while hunting. He lived to 99.

The 'Fitz's' were very popular in the early 20th century.

I remember seeing an old time revolver with the front of the trigger guard removed.

Our FN C1A1 rifles had a removable trigger guard for use with the Arctic mitts, the guard folded up into the pistol grip.

Dumb, dumb, dumb. Seriously, who has fingers so large that they can't fit in the trigger guard? You'd have to have a trigger finger the size of a banana.

Actually some of these people were big.
    Very large hands & fingers.
It's not that they couldn't get a finger inside the trigger guard - it's the fact that they could not do it in a Lightning Fast SHTF Hurry without the guard interfering.
Also I'm best guessing they all survived the trigger guard modifications without incident or personal injury.
