    Mag Stuck in Gun

OK this is a first for me. I purchase a Kimber mag for a Ultra Carry Kimber yesterday for a buddy of mine. He pulled the mag that was is the gun and inserted the new one. For the life of me I can't get the mag back out of the gun. Looked down from the top with the slide open everything looks fine. I have tried to push the mag out from the top with the mag release button pushed in.........no luck. Any suggestions. I am headed to my favorite local gun smith at lunch today if I haven't figure this out.

Have him remove the grip screws and bushings as sometimes the mag can catch on the bushings, lock the slide to the rear, press in the mag release and push the mag out from the top.

Thanks,,,,,,,I pulled the grips off and took a small screw driver and place it into one of the holes in the mag and pushed it downward like that also with the mag release button pushed but I never thought about the bushings.

Sounds like an out of spec mag tube, unless all magazines stick in the pistol.

Could be a bit of both. Either way it won't hurt to remove the bushings if the tube is out of spec as if the bushing are over inserted just a bit that wouldn't interfere with a normal tube but may be adding to this issue.

True, but you really don't need to remove them first, you can just run your finger in the mag well, if the stock screws and or bushings are too deep, then you can back them out.

    Take all the ammo out.

Ah, I see. I had gotten the impression you'd removed it.

OK mag is out........My buddy bought this gun used and the person before him added a beveled mag well on the gun. The back of the mag well stuck a little to bit forward on the magazine entrance. The mag fit so tight from top to bottm the back bottom edge of the magazine would catch the edge of the mag well. A little filing and polishing and no more problem. Thanks for the in put.

This is why when buying a used gun it's important to check to see if some shade tree gunsmith has done any modifications, sometimes somebody will screw a gun up and then sell it or trade it.
