Possible New Job - will include issued handgun

I might be soon working for another company - they will be providing a .40 caliber Smith & Wesson "something".

    Don't know which one yet.

Question is - any .40 S&W out there that no one would recommend???

I don't know about but a few of the ones available and never heard any bad press on any except for several negetive comments against the Sigma.

I know a couple guys who own the Sigma and like it & wonder if it's just an unjustified prejudice against it from those who never even shot \ owned one??

I have a strong feeling it will be an M&P, I doubt a company would issue a Sigma. I have one and like it, but I doubt it would be an issued firearm.

    Coingrats, BTW.

A little birdie told me it'll be a Glock 22 or 23, unless your client has demanded something else.

They did say it'd be a Smith - just didn't say which one.

I'd bet one if the older steel guns- they are good guns in their own way.

Early Sigmas did seem to have their problems, but I note fewer (not non-existent) complaints with the newer ones. I have never had any concerns with mine (a newer "enhanced" model) in .40 S&W, other than that it is ammo-sensitive. That said, I suspect that Paco is likely correct.

    M&P...

Do any of these companies still issue revolvers nowadays?

I know the M&P is available at quite a discount to the company. That would be my first guess, as many others have already volunteered.

With that said - ya think it'd be likely to be the full size or compact?

It's really going to be up to your clients needs. I can tell you that the official policy prohibits anything other than four specific models of Glock. So once they've made an exception on that... anything is game.

It very well could be an M&P, but the older steel guns would be my guess as well.

I seriously doubt that they would hand you a Sigma. Of course it's possible but, decently unlikely.
