Hmm, that's some crap. Not only the endorsement issue but the taxpayer comment as well.
A sub-moa Weatherby is less than 1/2 the cost of the H-S product.
I'm comparing the sub-moa vangaurd varmint to their varmint rifle....
Can't wait to see the ad's for personal self-defense batons featuring the cops involved in the Rodney King beating.

Keep in mind that the average person, including the average gun owner, doesn't know who Randy Weaver is, much less who Lon Horiuchi is. I wouldn't be surprised in the slightest H-S Precision is simply accepting the endorsement of a .gov employee and not looking any deeper into it. H-S Precision has a good rep and seem like good people, so I highly doubt there was any nefarious intent here.
Will it cost them? Maybe. I think a polite heads-up would do them more good than a boycott. I sincerely hope gun-owners aren't going to be come as rabid as the anti-rights folks...
Does your Weatherby break down into more portable parts and still maintain that accuracy guarantee? Can you slap on a new "upper" of a different caliber that also shares that accuracy guarantee? Does it come completely custom-fit to the guy who bought it? Have you even looked at their line of 'tactical rifles'?Originally Posted by G96X0

They're talking about this on AR15.com...supposedly the owner of HS is good friends with the murderer of Viki Weaver according to the receptionist when the AR15 member called HS.
Hopefully enough people will get the word out to his clientele and make him have 2nd thoughts about his decision

Why are we talking about this? Who cares. Why would you boycott a gun company because of a bad endorsment. Why don't we all chain ourselves to our computers and e-mail them till we die of starvation.
How many of you can actually afford the products you're going to boycott? No? Well, I can't either. Looks like they won't care.

If he had used a Remington 700 to kill her would it matter to you then? The name of the company doesn't matter, the fact that ANY company would use him as an endorsement is disgusting.

Nope. I still wouldn't care about a poor choice of this endorser on the back of a catalog. HS precision makes good stuff and they do supply the rifles to FBI snipers. I have in fact held one of their issue guns in my hands. They did not supply the FBI at the time of the shooting in question as far as I'm aware. Many FBI rifles were pre-64 Winchesters and were destroyed to make room for the new HS rifles. Now that does make me mad!

this makes as much sense as Lynn Thompson getting OJ Simpson to endorse Cold Steel products. either way, i'm ordering HS's Lee Harvey Oswald Commemorative Christmas rifle.....
I don't know if HS or their ad agency is more at fault, both are simply stupid.

I'll bet it was just an oversight. The whole event happened long ago, I'll bet they were banking on the fact that most people wouldnt even know who Horiuchi or Weaver is. Since most people cant even name the Vice President, its not a bad assumption.
