    What's up w/ this?

I had my Springfield XD 40 sc out to put a few rounds in a target. 3 or 4 times the slide would lock as if the mag was empty, but it wasn't.
It wasn't a FTF as I could drop the mag and no rounds were left in the gun.
Put the mag back in and press the slide release and she's close w/o any problems.

    Reckon the mag is bad?

Make sure your thumb isnt hitting the slide lock lever. That is a common occurrence.

P.S. Dont let Glock touch y our XD!! It might come back with a plastic guide rod and a tendency to go KaBoom!!
I am consistently on record and will continue to be on record as opposing concealed carry.

I would first try a different grip as you may be bumping the slide stop. Also mark you mags to see if only 1 mag is creating this situation.

Poor design or user incompatibility? A Glock may work better for you. It was after all the original design.

That's a silly comment. They're in the same place, as you noted ('original design').

    I vote magazine issue.

I did this and sometimes ejected magazines with my usual grip until I changed it. I'd say you are letting your thumb sneak up there like I did.

I'd vote for hitting the slide stop as well.

If not, it's probably the magazine. Be sure to keep us posted.

RamRod, That is not a common problem or a design issue. It's either a bad magazine, a grip problem, or a defective gun, something that can and has happened with every gun manufacturer, including Glock.

For crying out loud! Doesn't anyone recognize playful sarcasm when they see it? It really concerns me when people who carry guns are so quick to see a fight in what I saw as a playful post by RR.

But that doesn't mean I'm not bumping it anyway. Thanks guys, I'll pay a little closer attention to my grip next time out.

You might check tje slide catch latch and make sure when you push up it has spring tension to push it down
