Nice, I like the furniture on that 336.

I picked up my new Marlin 336C in 30-30 today. I'm going to try to get out to the range this weekend to shoot it and see how it goes. This is my first lever gun and my first "deer caliber" for that matter. So anyways, on to the pictures!

Nice gun there. I have hunted with one of those in .35 rem.

It's a good rifle. Treat 'er good and she'll always shoot true. I keep one around as a SHTF rifle. I figure less moving parts to deal with the better.

That rifle brings back memories of my younger days when I pursued the "Big Buck". It's opening day of rifle season here in Pennsylvania, by the way.
Get out there and good luck!

Congrats! That's a nice looking gun you've got there.
Dicks was selling these with some sort of Scope and Rings this weekend for $299. And this was our Sales Tax free weekend too. Went down there and what do you think happens? Don't have any left
... I said... of course you don't!
Nice. I'll snag one some day.
I had one of those years ago for about a month and a half. Only took it our to the range once. Traded it in on a chinese M-14.
That's a fine rifle you have there. Treat it well and it should bring you years of pleasure.

Nice! Last time I was at my folk's place I snagged my dad's Marlin 336 to bring back so I could play with it some. Haven't had a chance to shoot it yet though.
Will you be putting a scope on it? Any recommendations for a scope for this rifle? My dad mentioned that he's wanted to put on it, I'm thinking I may surprise him by getting one for it......that is of course whenever I return it. :)
I really know nothing about scopes in general and he doesn't hunt so something that would work for range trips and possible SHTF scenarios would be fine.
Good choice. You can't go wrong with a good lever gun.
I have 3, 336's in the safe.
Just remember that shot placement is much more important with what you carry than how big a bang you get with each trigger pull.

I've bought and sold several 30-30's down through the years. Last year I decided that I wanted another 30-30 to complete my HD/hunting collection...I have that same 336 in stainless...great gun.
I chose not to get a scope, but rather a fiber optic front site.

Sweet gun! I picked up a Winchester Model 94 .30-30 the second day of deer hunting season after missing a doe with my 20 ga shotty on the first. Out of my range. On the third day of the season I got a doe with my new (to me) '94. I love the carbine and have been looking at the 336 at my LGS. Told him that I might have to take advantage of layaway next year.
